NASCAR and The Well from Hell

Dear Bloggers,

Where have we been? Here's where. NASCAR in Charlotte, NC, and well-drilling in Brevard, NC. You can see that NASCAR is a curious mix. People with incredibly expensive motor homes living like tent-city homeless folk. We are the campers with the two tents and the electric porta-potty in the shower surround shelter. My sister and brother-in law are the MASTERS of good living through camping. We are not converts to NASCAR, but we did have a wonderful time with Peg and Mark.

The well was interesting. I cannot endorse dowsing 100% after our experience. The good news is we have a good flow of water. The bad news is that we went 800' to get it. The water didn't come in strong until 740', so we feel very fortunate. The good news is that when you visit, you will be able to flush the toilets. For a while there, it was looking like a dried sponge.
The well pictures show how really large the rig is- both truck and drill heads. The two pipe pictures show Marsha having a conversation with her new best friend from New Zealand. They are very nice, but they were concerned about the pipe coming through their kitchen ceiling.
Next on the docket- power comes in courtesy of Duke Energy, footings get poured, and then the block wall foundation goes up. I am raking and seeding the septic to hold for erosion, and I am plotting and scheming for landscaping.

Leaves are turning color, like New England. As the leaves thin out, we realize that we are going to have a spectacular winter view. With a little selective cutting once construction is over, it will be a gorgeous year-round view.

Y'all are always welcome to come see us.
